About Joe
Joe Hart has had an extensive career in the entertainment field as an Actor, Producer, and Writer. Appeared in original Broadway companies of BONNIE AND CLYDE, THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC, and MY FAIR LADY at Lincoln Center. Toured in National companies of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT and ANNIE GET YOUR GUN with Marilu Henner and Tom Wolpat. Joe was also cast in the First National Tour of THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS with Alexis Smith, directed by Tommy Tune and Peter Masterson. This led to his first featured role in the film version with Dolly Parton, Burt Reynolds and Charles Durning, directed by Colin Higgins. His theatrical beginnings started in NY after attending SUNY Fredonia (the first BFA in Musical Theatre Program in the SUNY system), received his Equity card in the first regional production of SHENANDOAH and An Evening Dinner Theater, which featured Ron Holgate. He continued performing in theaters throughout the Eastern region, but eventually landed in LA, where Joe was cast in Ron Link’s BOUNCERS at the Tiffany Theater. Film and TV appearances mounted, working with such luminary directors as Blake Edwards, Paul Schrader, Jim Mangold, Sam Raimi, Brett Leonard, Peter Hyams, Paris Barclay, Gail Mancuso, Tom Spezialy, Jill Soloway, Aaron Brown. Joe continued to work in the LA Theatre scene, receiving an Ovation Award for Best Supporting Actor in THE ANGELS OF LEMNOS, and was nominated for Best Actor in THE WOMEN IN BLACK, both directed by Ken Sawyer. Joe appeared in the revisited version of Lily Tomlin’s SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE; REVISITED at the LGBT Center. Having spent a life in the theatre for over 40 years, productions of musicals and plays, independent films and studio blockbusters are numerous and vast. Joe recently performed in THE MUSIC MAN as Mayor Shinn and just completed filming HOME FREE – a feature film due out in Spring of 2022. A life in the Theatre filled with gratitude, High Diddle Dee Dee.
