SCOTT HARLAN has been seen in LA with Carol Burnett in the world premiere of the new musical, FROM THE TOP and in the new musical RADIO GALS at La Mirada and the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami. Prior to that, Scott appeared in the national companies of DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOES REALLY REFLECT UP?, and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. Regionally, Scott created the leading Role of Ignatious J. Reilly in Frank Galati’s adaptation of A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES, was seen in Des McAnuff’s production of 80 DAYS at the La Jolla Playhouse, appeared as Sancho in MAN OF LA MANCHA with Jon Cypher, (and more recently with John McCook at South Bay CLO), as Mr. Bumble in OLIVER with Arte Johnson and Stephanie J. Block, and Beadle Bamford in SWEENEY TODD with Amanda McBroom. He currently is the conductor and one of the soloists for the concerted evening of THE MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, which is now touring the US. Movie roles have included Stan Licata in RISKY BUSINESS opposite Tom Cruise, Ralph Andropwicz in POWER opposite Richard Gere, and a leading role in the recently released CREAMPUFF (best actor nomination-Methodfest). Television audiences will remember Scott as series regular Ralph Friedman on the CBS series WIOU, and in such episodic shows as HIGH INCIDENT, CHINA BEACH, WISEGUY, GOOD ADVICE, THE ADVENTURES OF BRISCO COUNTY, JR., BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, and as Johnny Heckle on the daytime drama SEARCH FOR TOMORROW. Scott can be heard as a singer on Electra/Nonesuch’s release of LADY BE GOOD with Jason Alexander, on SONY Music’s PARIS IS SPRING written by Leslie Bricusse, in Disney’s animated film A GOOFY MOVIE, and is the voice of Shakespeare in Disney’s sequel to POCAHANTAS, POCAHANTAS II: THE JOURNEY HOME. Scott recently was the vocal coach for the Broadway revival of LEND ME A TENOR starring Anthony LaPaglia, and was music director for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Casa Manana in Texas, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG with Lea Thompson for Reprise, SWINGTIME CANTEEN, and IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING at La Mirada for McCoy/Rigby, and the LA company of I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE at the Coronet Theater. He received a Joseph Jefferson award and four L.A... drama critics awards for his work as co-creator and musical director/arranger of the Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle companies of BERLIN TO BROADWAY with Kurt Weill. He has been the musical director for productions at LATC and Long Beach Civic Light Opera in Los Angeles, and over 100 productions regionally, at such theaters as the Drury Lane and The Apollo in Chicago. Scott recently received a nomination for best musical direction from LA Weekly for his work on GOOD, BAD, BUT BEAUTIFUL at The Coast Playhouse, and was commissioned by the American Heartland Theater in Kansas City to create the score for a new Irving Berlin revue, CHRISTMAS AT THE RITZ.. As an arranger, Scott has arranged over 100 acts , and his arrangements can be heard on Joan’s CD as well as Randy Graff’s album DOING SOMETHING RIGHT for Varese-Sarabande (Randy Graff sings Cy Coleman).
He is an Adjunct Professor in Musical Theater and Vocal Coaching for the BFA program at AMDA College of the Performing Arts since 2009.
Scott is married to actress Winifred Freedman, and is still her biggest fan.
