Do Re Mi
September 19, 2005
at the Alex Theatre
Book by Garson Kanin
Music by Jule Styne, Lyrics by Betty Comden & Adolph Green
For years, Do Re Mi was remembered as "the Phil Silvers musical" or, perhaps, as Nancy Dussault's first show. This, despite a 400-performance run. In 1999, however, New York's City Center Encores! revived Do Re Mi and the applause started anew. Featuring one of Jule Styne's liveliest scores (including "Make Someone Happy") and a fun book about gangsters, show biz, jukeboxes, Washington investigations and ...love! Come and see why Walter Kerr, NY Herald Tribune, said: "It's silly fun, loud fun, fast fun, grand fun."
45th Anniversary Production and a Jule Styne Centenary Event!

Li`l Abner
April 24, 30 & May 8, 2006
at the Alex Theatre, Glendale; Scherr Forum, Thousand Oaks; Carpenter Center, Long Beach
Book by Norman Panama & Melvin Frank
Music by Gene de Paul
At 693 performances, Li'l Abner is perhaps the biggest forgotten hit of the 1950's. Based on characters from Al Capp's legendary comic strip, the musical includes all your favorite characters from Dogpatch (which in this version, the U.S. government wants to use as a nuclear testing site!), including Abner, Daisy Mae, Mammy & Pappy Yokum, Marryin' Sam, Stupefyin' Jones and, yes, Apassionata Von Climax. Ostensibly the story of Daisy Mae's quest for marriage, Li'l Abner is a satiric, tuneful laugh-fest. 50th Anniversary Production!
