Jenelle is a true multi-hyphenate. In 2019, Jenelle wrote, Executive Produced and starred as Eartha Kitt in “I Wanna Be Evil: The Eartha Kitt Story” at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. In 2017, Jenelle Executive Produced August Wilson’s Century Cycle (10 plays in 10 months) through her theatre company “AWRS” (then known as “The August Wilson Reading Series”, now known as “The Always Working Reading Series”). In 2019, Jenelle made her MTG debut in “The Goodbye Girl” as Mrs. Crosby and is now honored and excited to be an Associate member of the company. Jenelle’s LA theatre credits include: Disgraced and The Christians at the Mark Taper Forum. Jenelle has also played “Hattie” in Kiss Me Kate at the Pasadena Playhouse (opposite Wayne Brady and Merle Dandridge), and “Etta James” in A Night with Janis Joplin (also at the Pasadena Playhouse). Jenelle played ”Miss Gardner” in Carrie the Musical for La Mirada Theatre and reprised that role at the Los Angels Theatre in DTLA. Jenelle has also performed at 3D Theatricals as “Minnie McKnight” in Parade (opposite Rufus Bonds). Jenelle’s regional credits include “Lorrell” in Dreamgirls at the MUNY (with Jennifer Holiday), “TiMoune” and “Andrea” in Once On This Island, (Barksdale Theatre, Richmond, VA), “Brenda” in Smokey Joe’s Cafe, “Addaperle” in The Wiz, “Felicia” u/s in Memphis (NSMT), “Charlaine” in Ain’t Misbehavin (SDMT) , “Velma” in Crowns (Alabama Shakespeare Festival), “Aretha/Patti” in Beehive (Theatre IV, Richmond VA). Jenelle’s Broadway credit’s include: All Shook Up (Lorraine u/s) and the 1st National tour of Brooklyn the Musical (Paradice). Off Broadway, Jenelle has appeared in The Joys of Sex, They Wrote That?, Shout and the pre-Broadway production of Pretty Woman (Kitt) under the direction of the late, great Garry Marshall.
