Based on the 1924 play “La Morte in Vacanza” by Alberto Casella (adapted for Broadway in 1929 by Walter Ferris and subsequently filmed in 1934 and later as “Meet Joe Black” in 1998)
Our most sincere condolences if you miss this West Coast Premiere! Death is sick to… well… death of being everyone’s dreaded final visitor. He takes a weekend off and assumes a human guise to mingle with mortals. As they often do, his vacation becomes more complicated than relaxing. Based on the 1929 play, with a lush score by Maury Yeston (NINE, TITANIC), it makes Death seem far more romantic and darkly comic than he will… next time.
