Based on the comic strip, "Superman"
Even though it got highly respectable reviews (“Sheer comic-strip adventure served hot and ready”, said the NY Morning Telegraph) and ran almost 150 performances, this 1966 musical has never had a west coast revival. Until now! The story (by "Bonnie & Clyde" writers Benton & Newman) has Superman facing a mad scientist, an evil newsman and, perhaps worse, a foe for the hand of Lois Lane. Strouse & Adams' score is sophisticated fun (“You’ve Got Possibilities”) and a worthy follow-up to their Bye Bye Birdie. Come discover the musical “Man of Steel!”
