MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG
September 18, 24 & 25, 2006
at the Alex Theatre (09/18), Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center (09/24), Carpenter Center (09/25)

Book by George Furth
Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

Directed by Todd Nielsen

Musical Direction by G. Scott Lacy
Choreographed by Todd Nielsen
Produced by Eileen Barnett

Based on a play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart

“Merrily We Roll Along’s” structure is controversial: it moves backwards to chronicle the bittersweet lives and loves of Mary, Frank and Charley, three life-long friends who make their way in show business. The show’s score is not: it is one of the finest of all the 1980’s musicals, with a thrilling collection of songs, including “Old Friends”, “Not a Day Goes By”, “Our Time” and the Sinatra classic, “Good Thing Going”. We are proud to start off our season, and mark MTG’s 50th production, with Stephen Sondheim at his most straightforward, brilliant Broadway best!
