Michael is a New York native who currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He crisscrossed the country in the original cast of the first national tour of THE PRODUCERS–-playing twelve parts a night, and understudying the lead roles of Max Bialystock and Roger Debris–-and in LES MISERABLES, as the “Master of the House,” Thenardier. Regionally, he’s played Herbie in GYPSY, Tateh in RAGTIME, Nathan in GUYS AND DOLLS, Milt in LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, Dimas in TRIUMPH OF LOVE, and Pseudolous, Hysterium and Marcus Lycus in various productions of A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM. Michael was nominated for an Ovation Award for his work in IMMORTALITY, produced by the Indecent Exposure theatre company, and most recently appeared alongside Jason Alexander, Martin Short, Patrick Warburton and Wayne Knight in THE ODD COUPLE for Reprise! TV viewers often recognize Michael from his role as the unscrupulous gang lawyer, Maury Levy on HBO’s acclaimed hit, “The Wire,” or from his many television appearances, including those on “Studio 60,” “Without a Trace,” “Life,” “ER,” “The Closer,” “Boston Legal,” “The West Wing,” “Veronica Mars,” “King of Queens,” “The Geena Davis Show,” and so on.
